Cultural Olympiad & London 2012 Festival evaluation reveals public engagement of over 43 million

1257461_M04A report has been published analysing the breadth and impact of the four-year UK-wide London 2012 Cultural Olympiad programme. The findings reveal that there were 43.4 million public experiences of arts and culture – 38.5 million of which took place at free events. The programme also encouraged creative partnerships in the private sector, as well as 10,940 new partnerships between cultural organisations, businesses, educational organisations, local authorities and sport organisations.

A key impact claimed was that the Cultural Olympiad helped transform Britain’s image abroad.  According to the study, conducted by the Institute of Cultural Capital at the University of Liverpool, the Cultural Olympiad contributed to raising the country from 5th to 4th place in the Nations Brands Index.  You can read more statistics and analysis in Reflections on the Cultural Olympiad and London 2012 Festival.
