The DCMS has fired the starting gun for the race to find the UK’s next City of Culture. Culture Minister Ed Vaizey launched the competition asking those cities interested in submitting bids to register with DCMS by the end of February. Cities and areas across the UK are invited to register for the competition by 28 February 2013 and to submit their initial bids by 30 April 2013. For more information see:

An Independent Advisory Panel will assess all the bids and select the shortlist and the final winning bid to recommend to Ministers.
