AD:uk AGM & election of officers & regional coordinators

Agenda papers for the AGM of Arts Development UK have just been circulated and should be with you shortly by email. This year the AGM will be taking place on Thursday 18th October 2012 at the Guildhall, York, YO1 9QN (Access is through the Mansion House arch on St Helen’s Square) , concurrent with our Annual Conference.

 At the AGM in 2010, we moved the association forward by extending membership to a wider catchment of arts organisations and individuals. In 2011/12, we introduced our new professional fellowship programme.  In 2012/13 we are ready to face new challenges to move Arts Development UK forward as the leading body that raises the profile and reputation of the work of its members. We want our association to continue to have influence with policy makers and funders and have a key role in training, developing and representing our profession.

 To do so we need to appoint a new National Trustees Committee, and this year the Officer positions of Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary are open for nomination, together with 2 further Trustee appointments. Please note that the appointment of each officer is for two years. 

We are also seeking the appointment (or re-appointment as incumbents can be accepted for a further 2 years of service) of half of our regional coordinator positions. These are 2 year appointments and we are requesting that half of incumbents voted in last year stay on as Regional Coordinators. This means that we are also seeking nominations for one regional coordinator in each of the following areas:

  • East Midlands
  • Eastern Region
  • London
  • North East Region
  • North West Region
  • South East Region: Kent/Medway & E & W Sussex/Surrey/Brighton areas
  • South East Region: SHIP/Thames Valley areas
  • South West Region
  • West Midlands
  • Yorkshire (2 positions are vacant)
  • South Wales
  • West & Mid Wales
  • North Wales (2 positions are available for N Wales as we received no nominations last year)

 These will be for 2-year duration and are advisory and development positions. If you wish to either stand for any position, or nominate a member for a position, you should have received nomination forms by email. I would be grateful if you could complete and return the relevant enclosed form to me on or before Friday 28th September 2012, so that nominations can be presented to the AGM on 18th October.

 Representation onto our national Board and Committee affords many advantages and a unique learning environment for your continuing professional development. It also means that you will help us to develop policy and potentially new services for our membership, and will also be able to network nationally with representatives from a range of other NDPBs and national culture organisations who sit as observers on our national committee. You can also earn credits towards our annual AD:uk Fellowship programme, which will be open for applications in October.
