Get involved with Voluntary Arts Week 2012

From 12 – 20 May, Voluntary Arts Week will celebrate the wide range of amateur arts and craft activity taking place across the UK and Republic of Ireland – and encourage more people to join in.  There are two ways individuals, groups and organisations can get involved:

  • What’s in your Window?’ – VAN are asking people to campaign, to show off their talents by displaying something in their window during Voluntary Arts Week. It could be a painting, a quilt, a photo of their singing group – anything which shows off the art or craft they love doing. Local authorities can get involved too, using windows in their public buildings such as libraries, community centres and arts venues, to highlight the voluntary arts in their area. VAN are also encouraging groups to run a special event during Voluntary Arts Week to show off what they do and invite more people to take part. This could be anything from a taster session or workshop to a performance in a public space. Or can you help spread the word to individuals and groups in your area and encourage your local community centres, libraries and arts venues to get involved with the window campaign
  • Could you run a special event during Voluntary Arts Week highlighting all the wonderful cultural activity happening in your area?

VAN has put together a pack which contains information for you to forward to groups and community venues, please email info@voluntaryartsweek.org to request a copy. You can find out more about Voluntary Arts Week at: www.voluntaryartsweek.org.uk.
