Make iT Showcase 2012

The Arts Development Team within Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council’s Cultural Services will soon be hosting the Make iT Showcase 2012!

The Make iT Project is aimed at young people aged 14-19 who have a flair for media and would like to gain hands-on experience, creating music videos for musical talent from the borough.

This year, the media students will work with costume and make-up students from Coleg Morgannwg, and alongside professional film company Tantrwm Ltd, working towards an accreditation in film-making whilst creating music videos for the following performers:

Falling With Style: a 5 piece rock band from Pontypridd, South Wales. The line up of Thom, Ryan and Ben was finalized in September of 2010 with the addition of Lucas and Scott.

Falling With Style’s sound is a combination of brutal breakdowns and technical instrumental sections with insanely catchy chorus’ and sheer fun.
The boys have played with many bands, including Reaper in Sicily, Purple Spiral Project, Colours of One, Show it Off, Charnel House, Manhattan Coast, Straight Lines and many more;

Rebecca James: a 16 year old Singer/Songwriter/Pianist from South Wales. In 2010 she entered the Open Mic UK competition and progressed through the audition round and regional finals and reached the Area Final in London. She is now working with BGM on their Artist Development Programme. She travels to London on a regular basis to work with vocal coaches, songwriters and to record her original songs, as well as performing in their showcases. Rebecca is a regular performer at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff where she amazes everyone with her singing and piano playing talent.

Previous Make iT Project  music videos have been screened at the Co-operative Young Film Makers Awards, and have won an award at the Zoom International Children and Young People’s Festival.

This years fantastic showcase will be taking place on Friday 13th April 2012 6.30pm at the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd.
